Welcome to the iOS 9 Application Development Tutorial Series. In this chapter we are going to see some of the tools that are essential for ios app development. Tools that i will show are Alfred 2, Mercury Mover , ScreenFlow, Xcode, Cocoapods. Some of the tools like Alfres 2, Mercury Mover and ScreenFlow will be used by instructors.
You need Mac OS environment. You will also have to install Xcode, which is the programming environment that is used to create iOS apps. Secondly you will have to install Cocoapods. Cocoapods is an environment that is used to access programming libraries that have been developed by the people outside the apple company.
Xcode is an integrated development environment. Xcode provides a single user-interface for many functions. Xcode can be used for writing code, building user interfaces, testing apps, managing libraries etc.
Cocoapods is a third party library manager which allows developers to use softwares from non- Apple providers. Cocoapods also enables iOS app developers to use libraries for all kinds of things.
